Yet Another Las Vegas School Shooting

For the third time in less than two weeks, a shooting incident has left a Las Vegas student has been gunned down by another student.
First we had Christopher Privett who was gunned down and killed by a classmate on his way home from school on February 15.
Then there was gunfire outside the parking lot of Bonanza High School last week that ended with a 19-year-old wounded, though police say the shooting was not connected to the school. (The apartment complex it happened at, incidentally, was the first one we lived in when we first moved here. It probably goes without saying that we learned our lesson about finding an apartment online, and we were out of there within two months.)
And now we have a fight gone wrong in another high school parking lot yesterday that ended in a student being shot in the back and legs.
Las Vegas police are setting up a press conference to address this “sudden” rash of gun violence around the valley though I can’t find any information on when that will be held.
Though these seem to be targeted shootings that doesn’t exactly make parents in the city feel any better. In your opinion, what more can Metro and the school district do?

This makes me so sad. As a kid growing up in Las Vegas, I was never afraid of another student coming to school with a gun. When I got to high school I remember being wary of people known to carry knives, but a gun? No.
I remember one shooting the entire time I was in school, and that was a random thing and the only reason the gun went off was because they were playing with it and it accidentally fired. No one was hurt, as it went into some lockers. I think a math book was killed, though.
Seriously, this makes me so sad that Las Vegas isn’t as “safe” as it once was. I mean, there were always bullies and rival groups of kids, but never anything like this.
I don’t know what Metro and the city can do, short of installing metal detectors at the doors and a bigger presence on campus. I think parents need to be more involved with their kids and THEY should be the front line in keeping guns out of schools.

I have recently put together a school program that introduces a mental disorder to the public, called Intermittent Explosive Disorder aka I-E-D. This illness has been linked to road rage, spousal abuse, and school violence. Harvard researchers reported that this mental disorder affects as many as 16 million Americans alone. With all the shootings that have been occurring in our city over the past few weeks, the time for this illness to be brought to the attention of Las Vegas police and school personnel is now. Feel free to check my website and contact me anytime and I will make myself available to speak in front of who ever is necessary to help shed some light on these devasting events.

Just last week I was listening to the radio and I hear “three school shootings” come over the broadcast. My first reaction was shock and a little fear then I began asking questions. What is it that has a person so angry that would cause someone to try and kill them??? Why is it that no other alternative comes to mind to solve the problem?
I speak out against shootings in schools on the streets or anywhere for that matter.
CEASE FIRE!!!!! and Communicate.
