The Wynn Encore Suites

The Encore Suites, Steve Wynn’s $2.1 billion sequel to the Wynn, has announced it is now hiring for 5300 positions for its opening later this year.

This is great news for local Las Vegans (or those wanting to become Las Vegans!), who will be able to apply online starting this Sunday, July 20th. (They have a FAQ about the application process here.)

The 2,034 room, 61-floor tower is right next to the original Wynn tower and sits where the Desert Inn once stood. It was originally intended to be an extension of the Wynn but it was later decided it would be its own stand-alone, full-scale resort.

Suite rooms will average 700 square feet, while VIP Suites will measure up to 5,800 square feet! Just like the Wynn, there is no floor 13, nor floors 40-49 (because the number 13 is unlucky in western culture, and the number 4 means death in Eastern/Asian belief). All suites will have wireless internet access, 42″ plasma TVs, and 19″ bathroom TVs. All suites will also have what’s described as an “innovative partition system” which will divide each suite between the living and sleeping areas.

The resort will have 74,000 square feet of casino floor, five new signature restaurants, seven bars and lounges, a trendy nightclub called “XS,” 11 retails stores (including Hermes), and a luxury spa and salon, as well as an outdoor pool area and 60,000 square feet of event space.

No word on rates yet but you can probably count on several hundred per night! Reservations are already being taken for stays after February 9, 2009.
