The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay

by Heather on September 12th, 2007

Yet another great reason to live in Las Vegas comes in the form of tourist attractions. One of my biggest issues when we moved here was being smacked around by tourists but the residential areas are really so far from the Strip that in our area you very rarely run into anyone that doesn’t actually live here.

Anyway, the Strip isn’t too far away that we aren’t able to take advantage of it. Normally we stay as far away form it as we can, but when friends come into town they understandably like to take in the whole Vegas experience. We had such an opportunity this past July when friends came in from DC. There are a lot of attractions on the Strip that are kid-friendly, so we found a couple of those and spent the day wandering:

Our first stop was at the Mandalay Bay Shark Reef. In our almost seven years here we had never been and I’m glad we finally went. The price wasn’t bad (admission for adults is $15.95, children 12 years old and younger $10.95, children 4 and younger admitted free. Locals usually get a a little bit of a discount, though I don’t remember how much it was), and we spent the next hour oohing and aahing as much as the kids.

Next: The rest of our day at the Strip.
