The Roller Coaster at New York New York

by Heather on August 2nd, 2008

The Roller Coaster

If you’re tired of walking up and down the Strip and need a break and a pick-me-up, stop by the New York New York’s Roller Coaster!

Formerly called the Manhattan Express, The Roller Coaster is nearly 5000 feet of drops, lifts and a “heartline” twist, shuttling you along in taxicab-themed cars at 67 miles per hour. The Roller Coaster runs around the hotel’s perimeter and lasts about 2 minutes and 45 seconds. Souvenir pictures are taken during the ride and can be purchased afterward.

The ride is open Sunday to Thursday from 11am to 11pm, and Friday and Saturday from 10:30am to midnight. Tickets are $14 per person and a second-ride ticket can be purchased at the same time as the initial ticket for $7. The “All-Day Scream Pass” is $25, and the “Flight-for-Four” package is available for $56 and includes admission for four as well as two souvenir photos. All major credit cards and cash are accepted.

Riders must be 54 inches tall to ride, and no loose articles are allowed on the ride.

I’ve heard of the Manhattan Express…when did they change the name?
I usually like going to a park where there are several great ride to split up the day but if I were in town doing some sight seeing I could definitely see buying a day pass and riding off an on all day.
Did you take any good souvenir pictures on the ride? I’ve got a growing collection of roller coaster pictures I am trying to build up… I think this might be a good candidate from watching the video. Thanks!
