The Eastside Cannery Opens

The Eastside Cannery Hotel & Casino opened this past weekend in the spot that the old Nevada Palace used to occupy. The 16-story, $250 million hotel/casino has 307 rooms, six restaurants, four bars and a lounge. It’s also the first major casino to open in the east side in over a decade!
The casino floor boasts 2,100 slot machines, 26 table games, a 450-seat bingo hall, a keno lounge, a poker room and a race and sports book. The decor is mid-century vintage industrial with a lot of bronze, corrugated metal and girders with deep purples, oranges and yellows.
Of course, there’s food! Sweet Lucy’s Tableside Buffet is open seven days a week from 11am-9pm and has a unique spin on a traditional buffet-style restaurant: instead of getting up to get the food yourself, the 20 all-you-can-eat entrees are brought to you (including a 20-foot dessert bar!).
Casa Cocina offers fresh Mexican food, and you can find a casual dining experience at Carve. The Deli is open for lunch and dinner from 10am-11pm every day and overlooks the sports book, and you can pick up a quick meal at Snaps 24-Hour Cafe. One Six is a restaurant and bar that will sit on the 16th floor, is slated to open later this fall.
