Cher Cancels the Rest of her 2008 Shows

Cher announced this weekend that she’s canceling her remaining 2008 shows at Caesars Palace due to a bout of asthma-related bronchitis. The dry desert air and over-conditioned hotels (“Vegas throat”) have given her problems in the past.
Cher has said she looks forward to picking things back up at the beginning of next year though new dates have not yet been announced.
In an official statement issued by AEG, the producers of the show, ticket holders for the canceled performances have the following options for exchange or refund:

The Las Vegas Monorail Drops Prices

The Las Vegas Monorail has announced it’s lowering the prices of the majority of its ride tickets.
The unlimited ride one-day pass drops from $15 to $12, and the the 3-day pass to $28 from $40. It has also discontinued the 2-ride, 6-ride, and 10-ride multi-ride tickets. Single ride tickets will remain the same at $5 each.
The new ticket prices are available online as well as at the ticket booths.

Final Mamma Mia Tickets Go On Sale

Tickets for the last performances of Mamma Mia! at the Mandalay Bay Theatre will go on sale this Friday at 10:00 am. The international hit, based on ABBA songs, will hold its last performance on Sunday, January 4, 2009.
The show has been on the Strip for nearly six years now, which comes out to 2,100 performances and two million guests to date!
The current performance schedule for Mamma Mia! is Sunday through Thursday at 7:30 p.m. and Saturday at 6:00 p.m. & 10:00 p.m. There are no performances on Fridays.

The Las Vegas Monorail (technically the Robert N. Broadbent Las Vegas Monorail) was finally completed and opened to the public in July 2004. It was then plagued by several problems, the largest being parts falling from the monorail to the ground below. After several starts and stops, so to speak, it opened without further issues in early 2005.
