Find Super Bowl XLII Parties in Las Vegas

Find Super Bowl XLII Parties in Las Vegas

By now it’s probably safe to say that everyone knows corporations are avoiding using the words “Super Bowl” when advertising any kind of get-together involving the Super Bowl, especially parties for “The Big Game.”
Incidentally, the NFL and Las Vegas had a pretty good relationship regarding the Super Bowl up until a few years ago:

Bowling at the Santa Fe Station

Bowling at the Santa Fe Station

My husband recently joined a bowling league through work and their first meet-up is tonight which has inspired me to write about, what else, bowling in Las Vegas! Spouses were invited to join as well, and while I do like to bowl I’m not terribly good at it unless a Wii is involved, so I decided Thursday nights will be girls-night-in for me and the kids.
Anyway, we’ve taken the girls bowling just once last fall while they were out for a school break. We chose one close to us, the bowling center at Santa Fe Station Casino. One thing that …read more

Sin City Rollergirls

Rollergirls fascinate me. Maybe it’s because there’s not a chance in hell I’d ever have the guts to do it, or maybe because the women who participate are such great sports about taking a beating or dishing one out.
Las Vegas’s Sin City Rollergirls present Sunday Slaughter, a three-period practice game most Sundays at 7pm. A $5 donation requested if you want to watch, or you can even participate! You need to bring bring bottled water and a photocopy of your driver’s license or passport and you’ll also be required to fill out a waiver, and sign up for a …read more

The Best of Las Vegas

The Best of Las Vegas

I have a love/hate thing with the Review Journal’s Best of Las Vegas that they publish every year.
On the one hand, you can find some really great stuff (you really should try the Bobbie) that you normally wouldn’t have, but on the other hand you have to wonder if the readers even try (Taco Bell was voted best tacos for 12 years. No joke. And P.F. Chang’s apparently has the best Chinese, and Olive Garden has the best Italian. Just… no.). At least the RJ staff manage to scope out restaurants without a dollar value menu.
Some of it’s pretty humorous …read more
