Top 10 Las Vegas Hotel Implosions

Top 10 Las Vegas Hotel Implosions

Vegas wouldn’t be Vegas without its obsession with staying new and cutting edge. Because of this, hotel implosions have been part of the Las Vegas landscape for the last 15 years as landowners and developers get rid of the old to bring in the new.
KVBC Channel 3 did a special a little while ago where they listed the top ten hotel explosions. Their list includes:

The Landmark
The Dunes
The Aladdin
The Sands
Hacienda
Desert Inn
El Rancho
The Dunes, Tower 2
Castaways
The Boardwalk

The video was put together before the Stardust was imploded last year – I think it definitely would have made it on there!

Las Vegas “Staycation” Deals for Locals

Las Vegas “Staycation” Deals for Locals

Vegas is a popular travel destination, and for good reason. Deals are found at practically every locale, from buffets to shows to souvenir shops. But with over two million residents, it’s also a pretty great place to live, offering even more deals to locals!
A trend that’s gaining more popularity lately are “staycations” – a vacation taken close to home. They’re cheap – you don’t have to pay for airfare, hotels, rental cars, etc. – and you get a chance to learn more about your city and discover things about it you may not have known before.

The Hoover Dam Bypass

The Hoover Dam Bypass

Driving over the Hoover Dam is a lesson in patience. The two-lane bridge connecting Nevada, Arizona and Utah is often clogged with traffic and has even become an economic burden on the states because the major commercial corridor simply doesn’t move quickly enough.
Over the last several years there have been lingering concerns of possible catastrophes involving vehicle accidents or terrorist threats that could hinder the dam and its facilities and threaten the water supply of several southwestern states.

Enter the Hoover Dam Bypass, a “twin rib” concrete arch bridge about 1,600 feet south of the current bridge and an improvement …read more

The Mirage Welcomes Tiger Cubs to the Secret Garden

Yesterday The Mirage welcomed five new additions to Siegfried & Roy’s Secret Garden and Dolphin Habitat – six-week-old white-striped and golden tiger cubs!
The public will get its first chance to see the rare babies today, June 13th, in a special nursery created just for them at the Secret Garden. Today is also Siegfried’s 69th birthday! (Holy cow, he looks great!)
“We are delighted to welcome these cubs to their new home at the Secret Garden,” said Scott Sibella, President of The Mirage. “They make a wonderful addition to Siegfried & Roy’s animal family.”
