I was fortunate to be able to receive a copy of Historic Photos of Las Vegas from Turner Publishing. It’s a beautiful hardcover book with a very full 200 pages.
This isn’t a textbook – it’s chock full of pictures and captions and very few of them are ones I’ve seen before and both I and my daughters were fascinated – we kept looking up areas online that were mentioned in the book so we could compare them with what they look like now (a pre-Strip Flamingo hotel is especially noteworthy). Aviation Nation at Nellis AFB
Aviation Nation has chosen Nellis Air Force Base as the close out city for the Air Force’s anniversary celebration this weekend, November 10-11. Aviation Nation 2007 is one of the largest air show events in North America and is considered the top air show involving the U.S. Air Force, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year.
The show will feature military flying demonstrations, planes spanning the history of the Air Force, and hundreds of displays. The event will also showcase the Air Force inventory of frontline fighters, bombers and transports, including the F-22A.

How Do You Like Your Vegas Weather?
How do you like your Vegas weather? Pleasant and mild or fiery and stroke inducing? Personally I like it mild, a touch on the cool side with a nice breeze. (I know, what am I doing here then?) The weather over the last week has been just about perfect: We’re able to leave our windows open all night until about afternoon when we creep back up to 90 and need to close up and turn on the AC. Soon we’ll be able to leave them open all day and believe you me, I look forward to that all year!

M&M’s World Las Vegas
The rest of our day out with friends on the Strip ended at M&M’s World Las Vegas. We’ve been here many, many times over the years but it’s one of the first places I’ll tell people to visit if they get the chance. It’s located at 3785 S Las Vegas Blvd, next to the MGM Grand and across the street from the New York New York. Their store hours are Sunday – Thursday 9 AM – 11 PM; and Friday – Saturday 9 AM – 12 AM.

The Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay
Yet another great reason to live in Las Vegas comes in the form of tourist attractions. One of my biggest issues when we moved here was being smacked around by tourists but the residential areas are really so far from the Strip that in our area you very rarely run into anyone that doesn’t actually live here.
