School’s Out!
Schools all over Clark County released hordes of excited kids this afternoon - it’s the last day of school!

Contrary to common perception, there are lots of families in Las Vegas, and many of those families have young kids! But the thing about summer break in Las Vegas is that it’s not as simple as just telling the kids to go outside and play for hours on end until they come in exhausted - it’s just too hot for that.
So, many libraries, movie theaters, community centers and even stores are offering fun summer programs and activities for kids and their parents to help break up the TV watching and curb the cabin fever. Here’s a list for June that my kids’ teachers provided:

June 3: Sahara West Library; It’s Only A Story! Storytime, 7pm - 8pm (ages 0-11, bring a flashlight!)

June 5: Summerlin Library Smazing Can Doos Comedy & Magic, 10:30am
June 5: Estelle Neal Park; Shrek the Third, 8pm
June 6: Lied Middle School; Mommy and Me Makeover, 7pm - 9pm (4-12 years old, $5 fee)
June 7: Rainbow Library; Butterflies Everywhere Storytime & Craft, 10:30am
June 7: Michaels Craft Stores; Make Your Own Paper Flowers & Chenille Stem Bugs! 10am - 2pm
June 7: Home Depot Stores Building WorkShop, 9am - 12pm (ages 5-12)
June 10: Molasky Community School; Play Dough Workshop, 6pm -7:30pm (ages 2-8, $5 fee)
June 10: Sahara West Library Movie: Enchanted, 7pm - 8:30pm
June 11: Mirabelli Community Center; Game Room Tournament Explosion, 4:30pm - 7:30pm (ages 9-17, $2 fee)
June 12: Rainbow Library; Yoga for Youngsters, 12noon
June 12: Estelle Neal Park; Surf’s Up, 8pm
June 13: Cimarron Rose Community Center; Movie in the Park, 7pm
June 14: Summerlin Library; Father’s Day Fun Craft, 11am
June 14: Michaels Craft Stores; Sea Life Canvas Tote, 10am - 12noon ($5 fee)
June 15: Sahara West Library; Hooray for Father’s Day Storytime, 3pm - 3:45pm (ages 0-11)
