Picture of the Week: Red Rock Canyon

Located just 25 minutes from the Las Vegas Strip, Red Rock Canyon is a beautiful reminder of the desert landscape that surrounds the city.
The picture above is of the “Keystone Thrust Fault,” a good example of the shifting plates from millions of years ago clearly defined by the red sandstone and gray limestone.
A 13-mile Loop Drive offers visitors a chance to unwind and take in some nature, and if you’re in the mood for an extended stay there are several spots along the Loop that allow hiking. You can even bring along a picnic to enjoy at either Red Spring or Willow Spring.

Great photo. I haven’t been to Red Rock in quite some time. Perhaps this fall when the weather cools down a bit.
