Hotel Spotlight: Excalibur

The Excalibur Hotel and Casino opened June 19, 1990 with an Arthurian-legend theme at a cost of $290 million. The outside castle facade is said to be modeled after the castle in Carcassone, France.
The famous Tournament of Kings show is a permanent feature of the resort and features simulated medieval jousting surrounded by dining guests. Other restaurants also have Arthurian names like the Roundtable Buffet, Sir Galahad’s Prime Cuts, The Steakhouse of Camelot, Village Food Court, and Regale Italian eatery.
Other popular attractions include the adults-only Thunder From Down Under, a medieval-themed wedding chapel, a pool, and a spa.

Don’t forget the “Thing in the Moat” show outside the castle every night on the hour! A dragon and wizard battle it out for the castle proper!
It’s sort of cheesy now, but I remember how cool it was when the hotel opened! Everyone was so excited to see the dragon. He still is pretty cool for the kiddos.
