The Best Time to Come to Las Vegas

The Best Time to Come to Las Vegas

Though it may seem like it’s always crowded, there are some times that are better to come to Vegas than others, specifically days of the week!
If you like or don’t mind being crowded and jostled by other tourists, the standard Friday through Sunday would be the obvious choice to spend in town.
But keep in mind that Vegas isn’t alive only on the weekends – that hot club you want to check out or the restaurant on the Strip run by a celebrity chef are open seven days a week, and showing up between Sunday to Thursday will give you …read more

The Las Vegas Interstate 15 Corridor

The Las Vegas Interstate 15 Corridor

I can’t tell you how many times in my life I’ve been up and down Interstate 15, or as it’s more commonly called, the I-15! The I-15 is a transcontinental north-south interstate highway that runs through Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California.
Having grown up in northern Utah with grandparents in southern California, the I-15 was the fastest and most direct route for Thanksgivings, Christmases and Easters spent with extended family. The drive wasn’t terribly spectacular, usually starting obscenely early in the morning and ending late at night with a whole lot of flat desert landscaping in between, but …read more

Staying Healthy in Las Vegas

Staying Healthy in Las Vegas

With so many people coming and going through Las Vegas we tend to end up on the map whenever an outbreak of something is reported in the news. It’s not hard to see how it happens: People bring an illness in with them, whether they’re aware of it or not, do their thing here and fly back home. But while they’re here they’ve come in contact with countless other people, slot machines, chips, restaurant chairs — you get the idea.

Even if you’re not usually very worried about germs or what you touch, it’s not a bad idea to carry around …read more

Tipping in Las Vegas

Tipping in Las Vegas

Las Vegas is full of freebies: free valet parking, free drinks at the slots, free shuttles, etc. However, it’s a good idea to always have a few bucks in your pocket for a tip.
You could argue that the services are free and therefor you’re not obligated to pay, which is fine, but keep in mind that if you do believe in tipping for good service chances are you’ll continue getting good service!
Below is a general guideline for tips for the average Las Vegas visitor (ie: non-high rollers!) for services typically given during your stay, as well as when to …read more

Full Body Security Scans Coming to McCarran Airport

Full Body Security Scans Coming to McCarran Airport

We’ve all heard the stories of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) getting ready to launch full-body scans at security check-ins in US airports, and they’re now a reality.
The first scanner was installed at the Phoenix, Arizona airport in April, and ten more are set to roll out over the next month – and one of those is McCarran Airport here in Las Vegas. (A few of the remaining will be at Reagan National and Baltimore-Washington International Airports in Washington; Dallas; Albuquerque; Miami and Detroit.)
The scanning is supposed to help bypass the need for pat-downs, and passengers will have the choice …read more

One way residential fares are $1.25, and extended passes can even be purchased online and mailed to you, or you can purchase them in person at a Ticket Vending Machine.

Las Vegas Taxi Tips

Las Vegas Taxi Tips

Image details: Blurred taxi served by picapp.com
Everyone knows that the purpose of taxis is to get you from point A to point B. However, if you’re not familiar with an area how do you make sure the driver isn’t taking you for a ride just to drive up the rate?
One common complaint about Las Vegas taxis is that drivers often taken tourists through what is called “the tunnel” – a drive that takes you underneath the McCarran Airport runway to I-15. This particular route may allow you to go a bit faster than side streets, but it’s not necessarily the …read more

The site is networked with over 180 other sites (all operated by GasBuddy.com) and relies on local motorists to log in and enter current gas prices as they find them. They also have a great list of gas-saving tips!
I tried out my zip code and it automatically sent me to VegasGasPrices.com, which not only gives you the lowest prices but also the stations with …read more
