The Best Time to Come to Las Vegas

The Best Time to Come to Las Vegas

Though it may seem like it’s always crowded, there are some times that are better to come to Vegas than others, specifically days of the week!
If you like or don’t mind being crowded and jostled by other tourists, the standard Friday through Sunday would be the obvious choice to spend in town.
But keep in mind that Vegas isn’t alive only on the weekends – that hot club you want to check out or the restaurant on the Strip run by a celebrity chef are open seven days a week, and showing up between Sunday to Thursday will give you …read more

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail (technically the Robert N. Broadbent Las Vegas Monorail) was finally completed and opened to the public in July 2004. It was then plagued by several problems, the largest being parts falling from the monorail to the ground below. After several starts and stops, so to speak, it opened without further issues in early 2005.
The monorail currently spans 3.9 miles and takes approximately 15 minutes from end to end. The majority runs just about a block east of and roughtly parallel to the Strip and actually has no direct presence on the Strip itself. Though the …read more

The Las Vegas Interstate 15 Corridor

The Las Vegas Interstate 15 Corridor

I can’t tell you how many times in my life I’ve been up and down Interstate 15, or as it’s more commonly called, the I-15! The I-15 is a transcontinental north-south interstate highway that runs through Montana, Idaho, Utah, Arizona, Nevada, and California.
Having grown up in northern Utah with grandparents in southern California, the I-15 was the fastest and most direct route for Thanksgivings, Christmases and Easters spent with extended family. The drive wasn’t terribly spectacular, usually starting obscenely early in the morning and ending late at night with a whole lot of flat desert landscaping in between, but …read more

Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood

Miracle Mile Shops at Planet Hollywood

The Miracle Mile Shops (formerly Desert Passage) is an enclosed shopping mall at Planet Hollywood, directly across the Strip from the Bellagio.
The minute you walk into the mall you’re transported to a cool desert oasis with themed store fronts and even a beautifully realistic sky painted on the rounded ceiling. Speaking only from personal experience, this is one mall that got it right – instead of feeling overwhelmed and rushed it’s a very pleasant and calming shopping venue!
The 500,000-square-foot, 1.5 mile long mall contains 140+ stores such as Bisou Bisou, Hugo Boss, Sur La Table, and Sephora, and …read more

Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton

Star Trek: The Experience at the Las Vegas Hilton

The Las Vegas Hilton announced just a few days ago that its long-running Star Trek: The Experience will be closing on September 1. A decline in ticket sales over the last little while was cited as the biggest reason for the closure.
There’s still time to battle the BORG and the Klingons before everything’s packed up, though! Tickets are still on sale for the whole experience – the BORG Invasion 4D, Klingon Encounter, and History of the Future Museum – for $42.99 per person, or $35.99 per person for seniors, children under 12 and Nevada residents with valid ID. The ticket …read more

Las Vegas Voter Registration

Las Vegas Voter Registration

It goes without saying that no matter which party you’re pulling for, this is an important election year! With Las Vegas being as transient as it is, though, many people don’t give much thought on registering to vote, but it really couldn’t be any easier.
Canvassers have already started working parking lots and going door to door in an effort to get people registered. In fact, new voter registration is already double what it was at this point for the 2004 elections!
Deadlines
Make sure you keep an eye on deadlines and don’t let them slip past: The Primary Elections deadline is …read more
