When you come to Vegas, how long do you typically stay?
Do you come for just a weekend, maybe take in a show or two, or do you really come to get away from it all, maybe hit the spas, the sports books and as many shows as you can fit in?

I thought I’d start a new poll to see why it is people come to our wonderful city!
Is it to play and relax, check out the new sights, visit family or friends, work-related, or maybe a little of all of the above? Or are you one of the fortunate few who gets to call themselves a local?

With so many people coming and going through Las Vegas we tend to end up on the map whenever an outbreak of something is reported in the news. It’s not hard to see how it happens: People bring an illness in with them, whether they’re aware of it or not, do their thing here and fly back home. But while they’re here they’ve come in contact with countless other people, slot machines, chips, restaurant chairs — you get the idea.

Well, they didn’t create it, they’ve just spent the last eight months compiling it!

We are fortunate enough to have this symphony in our front yard every morning around 6am. Doubly fortunate that it’s right outside the kids’ bedroom windows! I have no idea what kind of birds these are but they only stick around for about a week before our blissful morning quiet is returned to us.
The valley is covered in green. Plants and trees everywhere are blooming and releasing pollen. The biggest offenders right now are fruitless mulberry trees and European olive trees, of which several of my neighbors have.
According to the LVRJ, developers in the 1950’s began planting mulberry trees because they’re so hardy – they stood up well to the desert heat and their broad leaves provide shade. However, a couple of decades ago developers stopped planting the female trees because the mulberries stained concrete, and planted just the male trees, which still produce loads of pollen but no fruit.

I’m not sure how widespread this story is, but last week Las Vegans heard the news that the Endoscopy Center of Southern Nevada and a few other related clinics had, for the last four years, been reusing vials and syringes from patient to patient to save money.
From 2004 to January 2008, 40,000 people are said to have been put at risk by this unbelievable lack of intelligence.
