A Hawaiian Christmas in Las Vegas

by Heather on December 12th, 2007

hawaiian christmas: las vegas

Mele Kalikimaka: A Hawaiian Christmas Concert is set to take place in the showroom at the South Point Hotel and Casino from December 20-24.

Featured vocalists Christy Copeland, Manea Manuma, and Janoe Kalawa and also include the Mele Kalikimaka Dancers, talented and beautiful with their interpretations of movement and Hawaiian style dance.

In 2005 Christy, Janoe, and Manea joined forces to become the center of Mele Kalikimaka. Christy Copelands powerful vocals on “Oh Holy Night” and her soft and moving rendition of “Ave Maria” illustrates her versatility and strive for perfection.

While Manuma and Kalawa are equally impressive with their rich duets that come across more like a choir than a duet. Manuma’s version of Louis Armstong’s “A Wonderful World” is always a crowd pleaser. He and Kalawa also excel in the Island stylings of guitar and Ukelele with tropical treatments of traditional Christmas carols such as “Silent Night” and “Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas” interwoven with a Hawaiian classic “Kuuipo” (which means sweetheart).

Doors open at 6:30pm, showtime is at 7:30pm. Tickets range from $20 to $30 and can be purchased online.

1 opinion for A Hawaiian Christmas in Las Vegas

This is one of the few Christmas shows in Las Vegas this year. The performers put on a great musical show that would appeal to different ages. The material varied from solemn to lively, with the pace changing frequently enough to keep the audience interested. My husband and I loved it and would recommend it to anyone.
