The Mentalist at Hooters Hotel & Casino

The Mentalist at Hooters Hotel & Casino

Gerry McCambridge is Las Vegas’s famous Mentalist and has not only appeared on Criss Angel’s “Phenomenon,” “The Today Show,” “The Late Show with David Letterman,” and CNN, but the LVRJ’s Best of Las Vegas nominated him “Best Magician” in Las Vegas, beating out David Copperfield and Penn & Teller!
His show doesn’t have smoke, flashy lights or gags, but involves the art of “mentalism,” or extracting information from or persuading people to do what he wants them to do by using misdirection and “reading” the person. McCambridge isn’t your typical magician in that he also explains what …read more

SexxPresso Serves Up the Hottest Coffee in Vegas

SexxPresso Serves Up the Hottest Coffee in Vegas

Only in Vegas! The hottest cup of coffee isn’t at Starbucks, it’s at SexxPresso – Las Vegas’s first “erotic coffee shop” where drinks are served by lingerie-clad baristas!
The drink sizes and drink names are suggestive too, of course – try ordering a cup size A, B or DD (20 oz!) Pleasure Cup (cafe mocha) or Porn Star (chocolate covered cherry latte) with a straight face! This is definitely one coffee shop that doesn’t take itself too seriously (always a bonus in my book).
And they do actually have more on the menu than the usual espressos, lattes and “slap-accinos!” Drop …read more

The Most Expensive Burgers in Las Vegas

The Most Expensive Burgers in Las Vegas

Have a whole lot of cash burning a hole in your pocket? Then you need to swing by the Fleur de Lys Restaurant at Mandalay Bay, a Las Vegas branch of the very popular Fleur de Lys Restaurant in San Francisco.
The “FleurBurger 5000” is actually two burgers (bring a guest!) consisting of Kobe beef patties topped with foie gras, black truffles and truffle sauce served on brioche truffle buns. The burgers also come with a bottle of 1990 Chateau Petrus wine.
The price tag for this overload of decadence is only $5000 – pocket change, right? I wonder if it …read more

Top 10 Las Vegas Hotel Implosions

Top 10 Las Vegas Hotel Implosions

Vegas wouldn’t be Vegas without its obsession with staying new and cutting edge. Because of this, hotel implosions have been part of the Las Vegas landscape for the last 15 years as landowners and developers get rid of the old to bring in the new.
KVBC Channel 3 did a special a little while ago where they listed the top ten hotel explosions. Their list includes:

The Landmark
The Dunes
The Aladdin
The Sands
Hacienda
Desert Inn
El Rancho
The Dunes, Tower 2
Castaways
The Boardwalk

The video was put together before the Stardust was imploded last year – I think it definitely would have made it on there!
Would you add …read more

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail

The Las Vegas Monorail (technically the Robert N. Broadbent Las Vegas Monorail) was finally completed and opened to the public in July 2004. It was then plagued by several problems, the largest being parts falling from the monorail to the ground below. After several starts and stops, so to speak, it opened without further issues in early 2005.
The monorail currently spans 3.9 miles and takes approximately 15 minutes from end to end. The majority runs just about a block east of and roughtly parallel to the Strip and actually has no direct presence on the Strip itself. Though the …read more

“21” is the true story of some of the brightest young minds in the country – and how they took Vegas for millions!
Based on the book “Bringing Down the House: The Inside Story of Six M.I.T. Students Who Took Vegas for Millions,” “21” is about Ben Campbell, a brilliant M.I.T. student who finds he can’t afford the tuition he needs and finds the answers in the cards.
