The Excalibur Hotel and Casino opened June 19, 1990 with an Arthurian-legend theme at a cost of $290 million. The outside castle facade is said to be modeled after the castle in Carcassone, France.
The famous Tournament of Kings show is a permanent feature of the resort and features simulated medieval jousting surrounded by dining guests. Other restaurants also have Arthurian names like the Roundtable Buffet, Sir Galahad’s Prime Cuts, The Steakhouse of Camelot, Village Food Court, and Regale Italian eatery.

Disk’O, the newest ride at the Circus Circus Adventuredome, is open for business! Its installation began this past December and as Tom Nolan, director of theme park operations at the hotel, describes it:
“We try to do new rides at least every other year to try to keep the mix in the park fresh. Disk’O is a different experience. You spin forward and backward, and the unique portion of it is that you get to face outward, where in most types of rides, normally you face inward.”

2nd Annual Jennifer Harman SPCA Charity Poker Tournament

The Nevada Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) will be sponsoring the 2nd Annual Jennifer Harman Charity Poker Tournament to be held on Friday, April 18 inside The Venetian Poker Room.
The no-limit Texas hold’em poker tournament will begin at 3:00 pm and all proceeds of the tournament and live and silent auctions will benefit the Nevada SPCA no-kill animal shelter.
Last year’s event raised $130,000 for the Nevada SPCA, a no-kill animal shelter that gives food and shelter to thousands of homeless Las Vegas animals.

The 7th Annual Pure Aloha Festival will take place at The Cannery this Friday April 18th (doors open at 6pm), Saturday the 19th (10am to 6pm), and Sunday the 20th (10am to 5pm).
