The Simpsons House

Everyone remembers the contest several years ago (1997, I think) sponsored by Fox and Pepsi that involved a real house modeled after the one on The Simpsons. I didn’t realize until we moved here that it was just down the street from Vegas in neighboring Henderson.
Barbara Howard, a 63-year-old retired factory worker from Richmond, Ky., won the four-bedroom, 2,200-square-foot house in 1997 after sending in an entry form from a box of Brisk ice tea.
The house is located 712 Red Bark Lane and has since been repainted. While I don’t blame anyone for it (I couldn’t live in it), it’s kind of sad that the whole point of its existence is gone!

Wow did not know the person who won the contest lived near Vegas. I definitely need to check this out. Thanks for bringing this to our attention.
I couldn’t live in such a colourful building. I would be afraid of waking up in the morning and believing I’m trapped in a Simpsons episode!
I would have turned it into a museum with a shop.
I think the colors would kill me… did they only paint the outside or did they also renew all of that “tasty” furniture?
It is absoulut mint it looks propper like it aswell if u dont like this u r sad
HOLY crap!!! That is totally aseome!!! I wish I could be u! That would ROCK!!!!! plz send pics of what the house looks like today.
Too funny – I live in the “Simpson House.” (I tripped across this item while looking up info. regarding the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay). It cracks me up that people are still interested. YES, we’ve painted (all but the playroom and inside the closets), and NO, I don’t give tours…I do answer the letters that occassionally arrive – usually from Germany or Japan (weird, huh?)…Anyway, just thought I’d drop a few lines since you were all talking about my house!!! DB
Hi D! That’s awesome! It would be weird to have so many people interested in your house, I can’t even imagine.
Didn’t they have the same thing for the “Flintstone” house? At least the outside since the inside was not very detailed?

D is lying a 63 year old lives there remember thats what the person who put in the add said. and D sounds like a pretty young guy.
The ladys name is Barbara howard and her initials would be B.H not D.B
“D is lying,” it’s very likely that Barbara isn’t the only one living at the house.
You are ignorant of the facts, my dear. The person who won the house took a cash settlement and never took ownership of the home. It remained in the KB Home inventory until I purchased it in 2001. Don’t call people liars unless you have your head out where the sun can shine some light on it. Have a lovely day.
i COULD live in it… it’s colourful and nice
i’m sorry that it has been repainted…
Hey D, does the house still have the original furniture an decorations? I suppose it doesn`t, does it?
my dad built the tree house haha cant believe it got painted….ya probly annoying but still haha
While the contest was going on, they had tours of the house. I did get to see it and took some photos. A few months later, my cousins and I went back and snuck in the backyard, when the security guard was yakking with the neighbor. I still scratch my head on why they couldn’t have gone the extra mile and named the street Evergreen Terrace…
not cool dude cowa bunge
What a great story! We live on an old farm that has been in about 30 productions, including the 2006 Billy Graham Christmas Show. People have stopped by and asked me for an autograph. Certainly not of “Simpsons” fame, but I understand the concept of wires, boxes, and people everywhere.
