Bowling at the Santa Fe Station

santa fe station bowlingMy husband recently joined a bowling league through work and their first meet-up is tonight which has inspired me to write about, what else, bowling in Las Vegas! Spouses were invited to join as well, and while I do like to bowl I’m not terribly good at it unless a Wii is involved, so I decided Thursday nights will be girls-night-in for me and the kids.

Anyway, we’ve taken the girls bowling just once last fall while they were out for a school break. We chose one close to us, the bowling center at Santa Fe Station Casino. One thing that amused me when we first moved here was how many hotel/casinos have bowling centers and movie theaters, but they do come in pretty handy!

The Santa Fe Station bowling center is huge and there were plenty of lanes available when we showed up around 9am, though it was pretty full when we left about two hours later. There are 60 lanes, computerized score keeping, and once you’ve entered all players’ names into the computer console you can ring the front desk to have bumpers automatically raise for specific players (in our case, for the kids). You have to ask for smaller balls (six pounds and under) at the desk, though, as they’re not available on the floor.

Rates aren’t too bad but between the five of us with shoe rental and two games it’s not something we’ll be able to do too often! They do run some promos, though, including presenting your same day movie ticket or Grand Café receipt, buy one game and get one free.
